The Coordinating Unit of Associations of Persons with Disabilities (CUAPWD) is a leading network of organizations of persons with disabilities in Cameroon, established to advocate for the inclusion of persons with disabilities persons with disabilities in all aspects of society. With a membership of 157 organizations of persons with disabilities, CUAPWD works to create an inclusive society through health, education, livelihoods, empowerment, research, and humanitarian response programs.
CUAPWD is currently recruiting qualified and motivated professionals to join its team in the following positions:
Humanitarian Inclusion Officer
Location: Bamenda, Northwest Region, Cameroon
Reports To: The General Coordinator
1. Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in the CBM-supported project Leave No One Behind 4 from implementation to final evaluation, including reporting and advocating for mainstreaming of disabilities into UN Agencies, INGOs, and NNGOs (Leading OPD assessments /training of humanitarian actors in the target area on disability inclusion). Oversee CUAPWD office portfolio compliance with disability Inclusion standards, build local and national networks/platforms for inclusion practices, and train and participate in humanitarian cluster meetings in the Northwest region.
2. Main Tasks
• Strengthen CUAPWD and other key stakeholders to ensure disability-inclusive program planning and implementation.
• Advocate and collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the Northwest, including the government, on mainstreaming disability alongside OPDs.
• Monitor and document evidence of disability inclusion for the Leave No One Behind Phase 4 project in Cameroon.
• In collaboration with the Leave No One Behind Phase 4 project Coordinator, ensure that data collection from the LNOB4 project is disaggregated by disability and advise CUAPWD accordingly.
• Regular update of all project plans to ensure adherence to CBM’s disability inclusion standards.
• Provide training and mentoring with selected OPDs and stakeholders, along with systematic follow-up to ensure learning gained in training is applied in practice.
• Support and participate in other activities and evaluations, including terms of reference (ToR) development, evaluation, and make recommendations for decision-making
3. Reporting:
• Monitoring/progress reporting according to donor requirements
• Collect and analyze data on the participation and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
• Prepare project briefs, reports, and presentations as the donor requires.
4. Capacity Development, Knowledge Management, and training
• Act as a resource person for disability inclusion at CUAPWD
• Build capacity within CUAPWD and OPDs on disability inclusion in humanitarian response.
• Represent the organization in relevant fora, working groups, and coordination meetings
• Work alongside OPDs and Persons with Disabilities in the provision of advisory support on disability inclusion; contribute to the capacity strengthening of OPDs to enable them to advocate for and influence humanitarian organizations.
5. Requirements
Essential Requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Humanitarian Affairs, Disability Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working in humanitarian or development contexts, preferably with a focus on disability inclusion.
• Strong understanding of disability rights, inclusion principles, and accessibility standards.
• Experience in conducting training and capacity-building activities.
• Excellent communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in challenging and insecure environments.
• Prior experience with humanitarian organizations, particularly with programs that have both national and community–level engagement;
• Understanding of the humanitarian coordination system
• Understanding of the rights of Persons with Disabilities and challenges in the humanitarian context and relevant legal frameworks (UNCRPD, IASC Guideline & approach, etc)
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of key humanitarian standards, i.e., CHS, SPHERE, HIS)
• Proven skills to plan and facilitate workshops, advocacy activities, etc
Desirable
• Reliability and availability also outside of regular business hours.
• Previous exposure in areas of Inclusive Health, Protection, and Humanitarian Advocacy would be an asset.
Languages
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of French and local languages is an asset.
Tools
• Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Packages (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access) and good report-writing skills.

Communication Officer
Location: Bamenda, Northwest Region, Cameroon
Reports To: The Program Officer
Job Summary
The Communication Officer is responsible for implementing CUAPWD’s communication strategy to enhance visibility, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. The role involves creating compelling content, managing digital platforms, and ensuring consistent messaging to promote disability inclusion through CUAPWD’s mission and its programs. The officer will work closely with internal teams, organizations of persons with disabilities, persons with disabilities, the media, and partners to amplify the voices of persons with disabilities and promote the mission of CUAPWD.
Main Tasks
1. Strategic Communication & Advocacy
• Execute CUAPWD’s communication strategy aligned with organizational goals.
• Produce advocacy materials (press releases, policy briefs, success stories) to advance disability rights and inclusion.
• Represent CUAPWD in media engagements and public forums to promote key messages.
2. Content Creation & Digital Media Management
• Design and disseminate content for websites, social media, newsletters, and reports (text, graphics, videos).
• Maintain CUAPWD’s website and social media platforms and ensure accessibility for persons with disabilities.
• Document and showcase program impacts through case studies, blogs, and multimedia.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Branding
• Strengthen relationships with media, donors, partners, and OPDs to amplify outreach.
• Ensure all materials adhere to CUAPWD’s branding guidelines and disability-inclusive language.
4. Internal Communication & Capacity Building
• Facilitate communication between CUAPWD structures.
• Train staff and OPDs on effective communication tools and techniques.
5. Monitoring & Reporting
• Track communication metrics (engagement rates, media coverage) and adjust strategies accordingly.
• Contribute to donor reports with compelling narratives and visuals.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in communication, advocacy, or media, preferably in NGOs or disability-focused organizations.
• Proficiency in digital tools (Canva, Adobe Suite) and social media platforms.
• Excellent writing/editing skills in English, French, and local languages.
• Knowledge of disability inclusion communication practices.
Desirable Skills
• Experience in graphic design, video editing, or photography.
• Familiarity with SEO, Google Analytics, or email marketing tools.
